ABOUT
The Swindell Speakers Committee, of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina, has been working on a Bible study focusing on people and relationships that fall outside of the usual binaries of gender and sexual identity.
Queer is one word that describes these identities and viewpoints that comes from the LGBTQI+ community.
We hope to illuminate scripture that tells stories of the rich variety of people and relationships that form a part of the great story, stories in which queer community can and does see themselves.
In retelling these stories, we reexamined the text without assuming straightness or strict gender definitions on the part of any of the people in the story and leaned into the possibilities we discovered through that approach.
